Hi

Just looking at your image and I see the STF is open I presume you are not using it i.e. your images are stretched and non linear

Hi Dave,

One important thing I've noticed in your screenshot is that the "AllLum_r_clone" and "Image09_registered" images that you're using are not correctly registered. How did you register them?

Along with that, I've made the following test:

- Copy your screenshot to the clipboard in my browser.
- Paste in PixInsight. This generates a new image window with your screenshot.
- Define two previews, each one anchored at the left-top corner of one image view.
- Extract the previews as image windows.
- Crop them to the same width (the height is already identical)
- Convert the so extracted "AllLum_r_clone" image to grayscale.
- Register the RGB image with SA.
- Use LRGBCombination just as you are trying to use it. The result is correct.

So the next stage is asking you to upload your images somewhere, if possible, so we can try directly with them. We should get to the bottom of this issue.

Then there is something wrong with my version of PI.
Your process is the same as what I used.
I registered both images using Dynamic Adjustment as described in Harry's video.
Then used used LRGBCombination as described in Harry's video.
The result was a totally black image.

I don't currently have access to a service that allows me to upload anything other than jpg images (fototime.com). Do you have any suggestions on how I can get you access to my data files?

By the way, another PI user has been able to process my files successfully (I emailed them to him). I replicated his processing steps and still ended up with a black file.

Okay, now I've got a real problem. I decided to uninstall PI and reinstall it. When I try to activate the new installation I keep getting the "BAD AUTHENTICATION" error even though I am using the values from my activation email that I received when I first purchased PI.

Anybody know how I can fix this?

Dave

Hi Dave
You don't have to activate it again. Just copy the licence file where it should be :D

Okay, I'm back up and running, but I still have nothing but a black image after I perform LRGBCombination using any/all of the methods referenced in this thread.

By the way, I meant to ask how you made the screencast. I imagine it's not difficult once you know what software to install.

Hi

Heres a little video of LRGB and the linear fit  ;D  hope it helps http://www.harrysastroshed.com/pixinsighthomeinter.html go to the bottom of the page and click on your name  ;D

I do think the lum is not a lot deeper than the RGB  ;)  but as always more data required

Hi Harry,

Thanks for making the video. However, I think we have a problem. What version of Windows are you running? I'm running Windows 7.
I followed your instructions to the letter, I wrote down everything you did and then repeated them on my PC, and still ended up with a totally black image. In fact, I ended up with a black image after doing the Luminance extraction (at which point I stopped).

Here's the result of my attempt to repeat your performance:

As you can see, there is no way that luminance extraction is going to work.
Could there be a problem with running on windows 7 (64 bit)?
