Hi Andy,

I am trying to figure out 'why' your PC needed to to anything as far as "pixinsighthome.html" is concerned.

How are you trying to access Harry's tutorials? Are you relying on 'links' from verious thread responses here in the Forum, or have you tried a 'direct approach' - where you open a fresh instance of your internet browser, and type in (not 'look up', or 'accept a previous shortcut') the actual address of Harry's 'home page', and then navigate, by mouse-click, from Harry's home page down to his video tutorials.

We need to see 'where' in that process the problem is ocurring - after all, it could be that it isn't your internet browser, as such, that is causing the problems, but it might rather be the way that your browser has been (incorrectly) setup to 'deal with' the detection of Harry's actual video.

Have you tried 'saving' copies of his videos to your local machine, and then simply 'playing' the videos from there? This is BY FAR the 'most reliable' way of dealing with videos like this - you keep a copy of the video on your OWN hard drive, always ready for replay. That way, if Harry's site did experience any kind of glitch or hitch, that problem would NOT affect you.

Nowadays there are so many OTHER situations that occur to try and wrestle control of your browser away from you that it is almost CERTAIN that the problem lies in the setup/configuration of YOUR machine - but that does NOT mean that the problem will be easy to identify, especially not when it might be associated with Microsnot Windoze

Website works perfectly fine for me on 3 different Win7-x64 machines. I guess something is misconfigured on your system.

...to direct download one of the wmv videos. Maybe it's a weird error in HTML, and a direct link to other files type works. If this works, you can at least download and watch the excellents Harry's videos.

I really do appreciate trying to find me a solution but I am afraid that didn't work either.  I got the following error report from IE......

As I said, I have encountered this at NO other site on the Internet and I have even visited some forums on this issue and it appears to be some sort of HTML problem/error at the server Harry's site is stored on....not necessarily Harry's page itself but I can't rule that out either.

I don't know why this is being returned in the error message....thus the frustration.

I have his website stored as a favorite and tried that.....didn't work.  I tried the link on the PI website....didn't work.  I tried the link on the PI forum.....didn't work.  I deleted all cookies, temp Internet files, and cache and tried the methods above....didn't work.  I typed www.harrysastroshed.com in directly....didn't work.  I have an XP machine I will try from and if successful I will download the vids and save them to my portable HD.

This is what I don't understand.  I watch videos from all over the world on YouTube and other sites and have NEVER had this problem before.  Why would my browser allow access to all sorts of other videos and/or websites but not allow any access to Harry's website much less his videos?

You can rest assured that if I ever do get to his site again, this will not be a problem for me again

Hate on Windows if you want.....many folks do.  It very well could be some setting in my browser but I have reviewed them all carefully and just aren't finding much to go on.  I am running W7 x64 w/IE8 and as I said earlier I think......on this same machine, I originally viewed Harry's videos with no problems.  The only changes to my system are the addition of any Windows Updates which are automatic and the trial version of PI.  I would think something that causes this error message with Harry's site would also wreak havoc on other sites I try to acces too....but NOTHING.

Okay, I got on my daughter's XP machine and retrieved all of the vids in about 10 minutes to a stick drive... so it very likely is something weird on my machine though for the life of me I can't figure out what.  Maybe this thread can now die a merciful death.  I couldn't download his vids from work due to security policies....don't know why I didn't jump on her machine a couple of weeks ago when this first came up.  Well, I did have a nasty sinus infection that turned into orbital cellulitis and was on its way to meningitis until I spent last week in the hospital getting IV antibiotics pumped through me so I will claim temporary mental incapacitation......

Hi Harry

I have also found your videos extremely useful.  I downloaded them but several of them become very pixelated as they progress - mainly the images in the process window rather than the process icons or mouse.  Has this problem been encountered by others?  I am using a Mac.

Not a problem I have heard about 

Are you downloading them to your desktop and playing them from there ? , this is better than playing them from your browser as there can be a lag if your internet connection has a slow down

I was confused at first, but by following your tutorials, I was able to process some 'throw away' image data I had (or so I thought) into one of the best images of M31 I've ever taken! After hours of processing in other programs, I found your intro into the unusual but effective PI interface to be enlightening.

As I run an observatory at a small school, I'll now be able to show my students the power of professional-level tools rather than try to gear them up to learn some obscure functions in Photoshop...

I have updated a few video's being STF / DBE and the histogram stretch and re rendered a lot of videos to make them smaller (better for yours and my bandwidth  )

Also I have made the raw stacks of the image I used in the video's if you wish to have a play
