Hi All

well 10,000 hits on this topic, ain't I popular  >:D

I would like to apologize for the lack of work on video's and written user guide  recently as I have been tied up with work and have had little spare time

But I will get back on the horse soon I promise  :-* but there a lot of work particularly in the user guide , no wonder Juan hides from this  :o

Hi

I thought I would put a post up saying I have started a written user guide http://www.harrysastroshed.com/pixuser/pixuserhome.html

It is a long way of finished and do not know if it is of help or not ( opinions please good or bad )

I see from the traffic on my site the video's are used a lot  8) , but not so many look at the above this is why ask for your opinion / help

Should I carry on ?

Hi Harry,

in the past I really enjoyed your site for getting help about the PI parameters - especially in the beginning of my work
with this software. Your work should indeed be included as a standard users guide for all PI users.

So please carry on !

Thanks a lot !
Christoph
Kind regards,

HTTP 501 error
Harry,
I used your videos in my initial research when considering what image processing software to use as I delve into the digital image aquisition world.....they were VERY helpful.  I even put that address as one of my favorites for future reference.  Thank you for taking your own time and creating this aid for people like me....it is invaluable.

I tried to go back and watch your videos again tonight and got the following:

HTTP501/HTTP505 not implemented....I don't understand why I am getting this error message as I have watched these videos before.  Am I doing something wrong or is something going on with the website/server???

Regards,
Andy

Harry,
I did as you suggested and searched on the error and got the following.....

The website is unable to display the webpage (HTTP 501 or 505)
Error 501 (HTTP 501 - Not Implemented) means that the website you're visiting is not set up to display the content your browser is requesting.

Error 505 (HTTP 505 - Version Not Supported) means the website does not support the version of the HTTP protocol your browser uses (HTTP/1.1 being the most common) to request the webpage.
These errors might occur if you have HTTP 1.1 enabled. To disable HTTP 1.1, click the Tools button, click Internet Options, and then click the Advanced tab. Under Settings, scroll down to the HTTP 1.1 settings section, and then clear the check boxes for Use HTTP 1.1. These errors might also occur if a third-party product is interfering with Internet Explorer. Try closing all programs and then attempt to access the webpage again.

I followed the instructions about disabling HTTP 1.1 and closing all programs and even rebooted all to no avail.  I am not asking you to do anything or respond.....just wanted to let you know I received your response and appreciate your time.  I will keep researching to see what might be causing this error.  As an aside.......your website is the only one to produce this error but as I said, a couple of months ago I was able to access the site and watch the videos just fine.

Harry

I am using IE 8.0....have been for a year or more if I recall accurately.  I will check and see if there are any updates.

I am on W7 x64 and have been for the better part of a year.  As I said above, no other site, so far, presents me with this error.  I can view PI's videos and Craig Stark's videos with no issues.  I can't access Harry's website at all even with Compatibility View enabled and disabling HTTP 1.1.  What is weird, is that I was able to access and view Harry's turorials 2-3 months ago on this exact same computer with the exact same browser.   ???   I don't want to start dismantling my software and trying other stuff (browser or OS)....that shouldn't be the answer.

Andy,

I'll try from my Vista x64 machine later but IE should be installed in both 32b and 64b flavors. The 32b one is more stable in my experience although I also use FF on Vista x64. Try both types if you haven't yet.

Harry,
I have researched further on Microsofts Support site and after making some changes as to how my computer reports website issues I now receive the following when I try to access your site.....

>Method Not Implemented
>GET to /pixinsighthome.html not supported.
>
>
>Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.

Harry,
I am not positive but everything I have read suggests that this error is sourced at the server that your website is stored on, not on my computer.  I have done everything suggested by MS to help get around these errors but nothing has worked.  I am not asking for you to do anything.....I just wanted you to know that I have exhausted all I know to do to access your website short of using another browser.  Since I have never encountered this error anywhere else on the Internet using IE, I am loathe to make a wholesale app change for the sake of one site.

Try this link...

http://bit.ly/aEDodv

...is a short url of this link...

http://www.harrysastroshed.com/pix%20videos/pixinsight%20intro%20(2).wmv

...to direct download one of the wmv videos. Maybe it's a weird error in HTML, and a direct link to other files type works. If this works, you can at least download and watch the excellents Harry's videos.

Best,

Enzo.
