GHSastro Download Problem

Here are stats for 100 pings; 7% timed out. I don't know what the typical internet packet timeout probability is. 7% sounds high, but should not significantly affect downloads with a robust dowloader.

Until Mike is able to work out what his hosting service is doing wrong (and I think there's a good chance that's where the problem lies) the only solution is a bit of patience.
We changed host about 2 months ago - we were hoping things may have been better since. However, we do have several thousand users now so there is a lot of pressure at or around update times. As we are distributing this for free to everyone, we can't really justify upgrading our distribution channels further!

Interesting!!! Where are you all at? I wonder if it's a country issue or a provider issue. I'm in the US (New Mexico) provided by T-Mobile.

Hearing y'all gave me an idea. I fired up NordVPN, connected to Manchester, and voila! GHS is downloaded and installed :D Thanks!

I've kind of thought it was related to hitting some kind of limit of simultaneously connected users. And yeah... no reason for you to spend extra for some kind of fancy hosting plan given that the problem always resolves itself. Usually on the second or third click!

Colorado, connecting with Starlink.

Yep, I'm on T-Mobile in Texas, USA and I'm seeing the same problem you were. Looking at a traceroute it appears that T-Mobile has screwed up their routing. When the traceroute gets to the 10.177.62.X addresses the packet is in T-Mobile land. Maybe someone at T-Mobile fat-fingered a 192/24 as a 192/8 or something like that. I guess I'll have to setup a VPN to get it downloaded.

And yeah, as with rawhead above, as soon as I connected to my VPN (even to a VPN server here in the states) and got out of T-Mobile land, the ping to ghsastro.co.uk worked and I was able to download in PI from the GHSAstro repo.

t-mobile. apparently that is the problem. i went to the library to use their internet and it worked just fine.
There seems to be an internal routing issue with T-Mobile. It looks like anyone using T-Mobile can't get to ghsastro.co.uk even though we could a few weeks ago. This is a T-Mobile problem and not a problem with GHSAstro's server.

i just got off the phone with T-mobile and the problem is with their gateway and there is no way for them to correct the problem. so if you are using t-mobile either use a vpn or find a free wifi site that uses a different carrier and you shouldn't have a problem.

I updated to the latest PI version today, and everything refreshed EXCEPT GHS. I also have T-Mobile as my internet provider. I am on the phone with them right now. Earlier, I did hard reboots of the gateway, and that did not correct the problem.

I tried copying the GHS dll from one of my other PCs (1.8.9-1) and put that in the bin folder, but PI would not update the Process Module.

It sounds like the only real option is to connect through another provider, or use a VPN. There are a number of free VPNs out there. Not always the best, but you don't need much.

Yes, same here. Tried several times at home (T-mobile) and through my cell (also T mobile) and got the same error. Went to work and downloaded through wifi without any trouble. Thanks for the suggestions
