PixInsight Magazine
« on: 2011 January 31 08:32:37 »
Hi all,

I am glad to announce the upcoming birth of a new project: PixInsight Magazine

http://pixinsight.com/magazine/

PixInsight Magazine is a logical consequence of the current state of PixInsight. As the above document states in its introduction, the PixInsight community generates a growing amount of knowledge, development projects and outstanding astrophotographic works. PixInsight Magazine is our effort to provide an appropriate communication medium to all the creativity and innovation that is being generated around PixInsight.

But this project is even more than that. We want to establish an electronic publication open to the whole astrophotography world, suitable to gather multidisciplinary contributions from both the amateur and professional astronomy communities. According to that goal, PixInsight Magazine's subject matter is broad by design: astrophotography, image processing —from practical processing tutorials and examples to theoretical works—, software development, instrumentation, astronomy and astrophysics, science outreach and related disciplines.

In the same line, PixInsight Magazine is open to everyone, both inside and outside the PixInsight community, so your collaboration is essential. For article submissions please contact us at magazine[at]pixinsight[dot]com.

We hope the first issue of PixInsight Magazine will be released next week. As soon as that happens, the magazine will be available for download in PDF format at several resolutions, and we'll send a notification to all PixInsight users and an announcement post to the most important forums worldwide. This issue comes with the first part of a deep article on wavelets processing by Vicent Peris, an introduction to PixInsight/PCL module development by yours truly, a gallery of incredibly beautiful images processed with PixInsight, and a selection of community news by Carlos Milovic.

Thank you all for your support and I hope that you'll enjoy PixInsight Magazine.

You have a wonderful vision for PixInsight. This is a major step in that vision. Can't wait to see the first edition.

Looks an interesting positive development

The success will depend on the content - for which I guess we might all be a little bit responsible ..... :D

Very cool! I just downloaded and quickly paged through the premier issue and I must say it looks very professional and the images are 1st rate! I've been a little disappointed with my current 'imaging' magazine lately, it looks like you guys are really going to pick up the slack! The fact that it's free......I guess I'm going to have to actually read it, but at first glance, you've set the bar very high!

It seems the links are not displayed on IE8, they are ok with Firefox though.
