Is anyone else have this Pixinsight problem.  My trial version worked perfectly for the last week on both my main computer and my laptop.  They both stopped working yesterday 9/1/2017 with the above error Authentication error. The server says: 'INVALID AUTHORIZATION CODE'.

I did not move or delete the license file etc.

I figured that something happened to my trial activation, but I wanted to buy Pixinsight anyway since it seems like a  pretty powerful software package.  I bought Pixinsight this morning and installed the commercial version after uninstalling the trial version.  I got new activation codes etc.  I cannot get them to work.  I get the same error no matter what I do.  I sent an email to support and am waiting for a response.   I also disabled my firewall/virus protection to be sure that was not blocking something.

Anyone else having these issues?  Maybe the Authentication server ios down?

Thanks

The servers being down sounds like the most likely cause. I seem to remember that the trial version has to be connected to the internet to talk to the server for verification every time you start PI. The commercial version only needs it for the initial verification of the license. After that you no longer need to be connected to a network to run the software.

Thanks,

I have the commercial version now but it still says Pixinsight - Authentication error. The server says: 'INVALID AUTHORIZATION CODE'.  So that must mean I cannot activate my commercial copy just yet I guess.  I also sent them an email through paypal payment because I am not sure my email got through.

Now it says, Authentication error. The server says: 'Deactivated License'  so maybe they tried to send me a new authentication key.

Hi,

Sorry to hear that you are having problems.

Give things another 24 hours - let the weekend pass by. If things still have not sorted themselves out, let us know via this thread and I'll try chasing down a solution for you.

Awesome, thanks for the response.  Once I get it activated with the commercial copy,  I should not have to deal with this in the future is that correct? Because I have to admit it is extremely frustrating especially after paying about 300 dollars.

Steve

once you have the license file on your disk, you don't ever need to activate or connect to the internet again. i have been using the same .pixinsight-license file since 2009.

. . . I have to admit it is extremely frustrating . . .

I don't disagree - the root cause is the fact that PixInsight executables are coded individually, against your license key, and so it can sometimes take a few days for Juan to get this sorted out through his system. Juan has gone to these extreme lengths to ensure that the licensed distribution of PixInsight remains under very tight control - yet still allows users to run multiple installations on multiple platforms. It also means that the challenging problem of 'illegal' distribution is reduced to virtually nil meaning that, to date, he has not had to charge for any upgrades.

We hope that you will agree that these benefits far outweight the short-term inconvenience of a delay in issuing your license (it's just a shame you waited until your Trial License had expired, and then ran into a weekend as well).

I am sure that Juan will get this sorted out. In the meantime, can you double-check that your payment has left your bank / credit card, etc. There have been issues where payment has not been made - without the knowledge of the customer.

Thanks for your response.

At this point, my license has been deactivated, so I cannot log in to download the software.  I tried to re-download to make sure that original file wasn't corrupted.  Possibly because I sent a message via paypal that there was a problem with the purchase they assumed I was trying a chargeback which I was not.  They decided to just deactivate my PixInsight license.  I guess monday I will either get a new activation license or a refund :)  I like to support great software and would never steal such hard work, but I understand the need for security measures.  I had some free time this weekend to really do some work learning the software and processing some images.  Since my account got deactivated, was that automatic or did someone manually do that?  If so I think just a good customer service email response of a new license key would have worked wonders instead of just deactivating my account.

Steve

Hi Steve, I feel that this was most likely an 'automated' response. Juan tends to react quite quickly to issues like these.

Like I said, let's see what happens tomorrow - in the meantime, check any 'junk email' folders that you may have, just in case there is already a reply lurking in there.

Hi there - well Steve traced the issue down to problems at hid end, specifically to di with PayPal. Are your issues PayPal related?

I am having the same issue, just how often does this group have this kind of problems? Doesn't lend itself to having must confidence in the system.

For those that follow this subject, this has still not been addressed other than an automated response. How do I know this is an automated response, the questions asked were already supplied in the included request for a solution. If they can't support their software then they shouldn't charge for it, certainly as much as charge for it.  Now I have to find what agency in europe I have to contact to get this rectified. As of right now I will tell all that are thinking of buying this software to beware of the non-support of the product.
