Finally got the SII data--but only 3 subs!  It wil be cloudy for weeks now, so here is what I have.  I was surprised at how adequately 3 subs held up
TOA 130, SBIG STT-8300, 3nm Astrodon filters
11 30 min Ha
12 30 min OIII
3 30 min SII

Very nice! Is what looks like dust really dark or is that just an artifact of processing?

Thanks! There should be no processing artifacts.  I did not hit this too hard.  There is allot a faint nebulosity and dust in this region.  I did not set the black point too low in order to capture as much faint stuff as possible.

I went back to a 9 year old image I took of the same nebula in RGB and see there really is quite a bit a dust in that area. Congrats on the great image! I will have to try this one in NB myself.

  Thanks--I find NB SO much easier than RGB.  Primarily because my skies have  allot of light pollution and the seeing is never very good.  I love the structure that Ha reveals.

  You have the right hobby then....There are more learning curves in AP than there are stars in a globular cluster!

  Thanks Rick.  I am honing in on a final image.  Here is a bit of star reduction and a less aggressive histogram.  I feel it is a stronger image.

Well--I had to reprocess this image.  I tend to create artifacts when I sharpen and use NC because I like detail and tend to overdo things.  I was much more careful than usual in this respect on this version.
