Can I flip a batch of files with PI?
« on: 2015 November 09 15:03:32 »
Hi guys
I need to flip 180degrees about a hundred fits images of spectra I took the other night. I stripped my spectroscope down for cleaning and replaced the grating the wrong way round and then did a nights imaging  :-[.
Is this possible with Pixinsight please?.
thanks
Steve

You should be able to load your images into an image container and the apply the flip to it.

Couldn't expand a bit on that could you please? A bit hazy on an 'image container'  :smiley:
Thanks

If you right-click on the workspace you should see Image Container as an option. It must be somewhere in the processes too. I think the keyboard short cut is control-alt-I. Once you have the container you load your files into it, define an output directory, filename pattern, etc. Then you drag the instance triangle onto the bottom bar of the process you want to apply (flip in your case) in a similar manner to applying STF to Histogram. The process will then be applied to each file in the container and the result put in the output directory.

also - it seems the only way to get a process icon for the 180 degree rotation is to do the following:

1) open some image
2) Image->Geometry->Rotate 180
3) right click on image, "load history explorer"
4) mouse over to history explorer on left dock, opening it
5) Click and drag "FastRotation" to desktop

there is probably another way to do this (like using DynamicCrop perhaps) but i'm not sure what process from the process menu can do a simple rotation.

You can use the Rotation tool.

yeah i figured i was missing something. i suppose there's some chance that FastRotation is, well, faster just because the task is constrained to 90 degree rotations.
