Using SHO-AIP for RGB Images - M51
« on: 2015 August 29 14:08:13 »
Hey folks,

I have been playing with the SHO-AIP script a lot lately and love the results, and not just for narrowband images.  Take a look at this recent reprocessing of an image of M51 I shot a couple of years ago:

http://astrob.in/197390/C/

I created my synlum in the linear phase so I could do deconvolution and had to tweak the hue and saturation with CurvesTransform, as well as apply a bit of minimum neutral green in SCNR, but SHO-AIP helped bring out details that otherwise have been hidden in the background.  For reference, this was shot with my primary system and consists of 28 10 minute subs in each of red, green and blue.

Give it a try,

Best,

Jim

Jim

Now you've caused me more work. I'll have to go back to old data and reprocess.  8)

Nice job!

Yes looks good Jim.  I re-translated the SHO instructions in another post today, just about this when I wrote it.

Thanks guys

Jerry, was that the post in reply to Joel Short?  I saw that one but don't want to miss any others you may have posted.  Either that or get out my old copy of Rosetta Stone French 1  :o

Best,

Jim
