Installation help

Hi,
 I've just installed the trial version  "PI-windows-x86_64-01.08.04.1171-20150804-t" and after installation there is no shortcut on the desktop to launch the program. I went to the folder in "Program files" and only some file folders, text documents and uninstall application are in there. I've tried installing twice and got the same result. Thanks for any help with this .

Did you try going to your all apps menu in the start function?  There should be a Program button in the PixInsight folder.  Of course, if you are still in Windows 8, I am not sure how to get there (its one of many reasons I have moved up to Windows 10).

Scott,

   You were close. Try going to the "Program Files\PixInsight" installation folder where you were before and then looking in the "bin" folder. There you will find the PixInsight.exe file to start PixInsight Core.

   It differs a bit depending on your specific OS version but for Windows 8, you can right click on PixInsight.exe and select "Pin to Start Menu" to get an icon/tile added on your Start page. You can also click and hold the right mouse button and drag a shortcut to your Windows Desktop.
