Problem with Histogram Real-Time preview and .xisf files
« on: 2014 December 07 02:37:39 »
There seems to be a problem displaying the histogram real-time preview with .xisf files. I have Track View selected in the histogram window but when I open the real-time preview it's a blank grey. <No view selected> is displayed at the bottom and the .xisf file is in the drop down list but I'm not able to select it.

However I can work around the problem by opening any .fits file, loading the real-time preview and then switching over to the .xisf. This works fine unless I have to reload the .xisf and then I have to repeat the procedure.

I'm running 01.08.03.1123, Windows 8.1 64 bit.

Hi Neal,

I can't reproduce this problem on any platform. In fact it is really weird because the real-time preview known nothing at all about the format an image is stored with on disk. I have tried with images of all color spaces and pixel formats and can't see this problem. Can you upload one of these XISF image?

Sure. Uploaded to:  https://www.dropbox.com/s/kz2cp1yw59utor9/light-FILTER_OIII-BINNING_1.xisf?dl=0

I've been experimenting - the file is the final output of the BatchPreprocessing script. If I create a .xisf file using Save As... I don't have a problem.

Thanks
Neal

Bug confirmed. This is a very strange bug in the PixInsight Core application, which for some weird reason this image has the 'ability' to trigger. I have been able to reproduce it with your image, but still don't have a clue about what could be causing it. I have not been able to reproduce this problem with any other image, either XISF or other format.

Fortunately, this bug is innocuous. To work around it, simply rename the image by double-clicking its view selector (or if you prefer, by selecting IMAGE > Identifier). Once renamed, the real-time preview will work without problems.

Thank you for detecting this, how to say, "exotic" problem :)

Thanks for checking it out Juan. It's also even easier to get around than I thought.

hi

I am having the exact same problem. .xsif created from batch processing module - lights integration from a canon eos
It may not be as exotic as you think.
A bug fix may be order i think rather than a work around. though the work around does work.

cheers
