1.8.3: Loading an 1.8.3 with 1.8.2 produces obscure error message

I dont expect 1.8.2 to be able to read 1.8.3 project files. Being forward compatible is kind of difficult. But I would expect to receive an error message that helps to identify the versioning issue. Instead I get this at the console:
