HI,
a few month ago I already submitted this issued, and I have been answered that this kinf=d of issue will be definitely corrected with the 1.8 release...
"We hope to implement a workaround to this problem in the next update to the PixInsight Core application for Windows, which we'll release in a couple of weeks. The final 1.8.0 release, due November ( 2013 ! ), definitely should not have this problem anymore.

Best,

Juan Conejero"

then I got some releases where it was OK for that,
with the last one it's not.
I am expecting a solution within PI
best regards
Dominique

Hi Dominique,
as far as I know the workaround in http://pixinsight.com/forum/index.php?topic=5333.msg36698#msg36698 works well.

Hi Georg,
I do apologize, Yes Applying this work around runs well.
actually, I understood that the core version was now able to avoid the issue without such a workaround
( I dont remeber exactly, but in some previous release, it was working without this workaround )
Nevertheless it's Ok right now
Sorry again, and thank you
best regards
Dominique

Thanks,

Having the same issue all of a sudden when it never cropped up previously.  No idea why since all settings and installs are the same.

Hey folks,

After reading Juan's earlier note about HTTP vs HTTPS (thanks Georg!!) I was able to fix this really easily, at least on my Windows 8 machine (ugh), by going into the Resources > Updates > Manage Repositories and then simply editing each line to remove the S in HTTPS.  I then hit Check for Updates and they loaded just fine.  I have gone back and checked after closing out of and reopening PI and the fix has stayed in place.

Hope that helps,

Jim
