NGC 6888

This is a bi color I recently completed of the Crescent Nebula. I used only 2 hours of OIII and 70 minutes of Ha and was surprised how much signal I was able to capture in such a relatively short period of time. This was imaged with an FLI and a 17 inch Planewave CDK in New Mexico.

Fantastic detail and color! Would you mind sharing how you mapped the Ha and OIII data to the RGB channels? I'm considering picking up an OIII filter to compliment my Ha filter - especially with the possibility of great results as you have demonstrated.

Thanks. I used Pixel Math and simply mapped Ha to red and OIII to green and blue. I did this first on linear images but found better results after I converted the Ha and OIII to nonlinear using Masked Stretch.

Thanks for the details. That's a pretty straight forward mapping that worked out very nice for your image. I'm off to pick an OIII filter!
