Crescent Nebula in H-alpha and drizzled

Hi everyone,

I would like to share my most recent image of the Crescent Nebula. It is a 190 minute total exposure taken over two nights with an H-alpha filter and a DSLR camera.

I am particularly excited about this image because it is the first time using an H-alpha filter and I am amazed how much detail I was able to pull out of the object amid urban light pollution and a first-quarter moon blaring in the sky. Additionally, I am thrilled at how the new drizzle integration algorithm turned my blocky, undersampled stars (after extracting the red Bayer pixels) into smooth round stars. Many thanks to the PixInsight team for implementing this algorithm!

Now I just need to wait until the next new moon for RGB images to combine with the H-alpha data…

That's a beauty Jason, good work.  I recently captured a HaRGB of the Crescent, integrated Ha and R using PI for the first time.  I am very pleased with the result.

It is amazing how much detail the Ha pulls out of the right target, even under a full moon and nasty LP.  Keep snappin' man!
