Problem creating new Preview via icon

It seems that whenever I try to open a new Preview in an image using the toolbar icon it always defaults to the upper left corner of the image and does not allow resizing or relocating via mouse.  However, using the Alt-N hot-key allows full function.  Is this a bug?  I believe it is.  If not, what am I doing wrong with the icon? 

I am a newbie to PI so I know I have the latest version, I beleive it is 1.008 R7 Ripley or similar name.

This is a good question! I typically use the Alt-N key create previews but sometime got confused the "Open new preview" icon. It seems it is not designed for mouse use but to enter name location and size numerically via keyboard. However, you can still modify it afterwards by using Alt-E "Edit preview mode".

You are using the 'New Preview' icon with a green Plus sign.  There is another icon there, 'New Preview Mode' without the Plus sign that does the same as Alt N.

Great tip! Thanks. For me, the confusion existed mostly when there is a preview already (and this one is active) and one wants to create a new one, because then the 'New Preview Mode' icon is greyed out and the only preview icon that is active is the one with the green Plus sign. But now i's clear!

I guess the description of the icons "New Preview Mode" and "New Preview" is the root of the confusion.  Personally i would have named them "Preview Mode" and "New Preview Selection" to reduce such confusion.  But now that I understand that the graying out of the New Preview icon won't affect its function I will commit that to memory.  Thanks for the tip!
