Confused with Histogram stretch...
« on: 2013 December 03 13:14:35 »
Really struggling with something I thought would be simple.

I have my linear RGB open and auto-stretch with the STF tool.  So I grab the triangle on the STF tool and drag it to the bottom bar of the Histogram tool as per Harry's video.  I see an histogram on the HT tool but I do not touch the tool in any way.  Cool.  I then close STF down and then drag the HT tool triangle over to the (stretched with STF) RGB image.  But then the RGB image turns completely white    Any pointers to what I am doing wrong please?

Thanks, Steve

Once you have applied a process (HT or otherwise) you may need to redo the the STF.

You have to reset STF before closing it.

Superstars!!!!!!!!!!
That's it!  Been trying to work that out for an hour!  Thanks so much.  Not exactly intuitive is it!

Once you understand what STF does and what HT does you'll wonder why you ever thought it wasn't intuitive.

STF applies a stretch to the image so it displays your image properly or at least in some way you'd prefer over the plain 1:1 display you'd get without STF. If you mess with the data then it stands to reason the STF is most likely no longer applicable. If it's still not clear ask yourself if you'd expect your image to look 'good' if you applied the same aggressive HT stretch twice in a row. I hope not.

Now I can do stretches I can also do HDR and AHDCR noise reduction too!  :) :) :)
