Thanks, looks promising.
Maybe I found the first bug - or my first misunderstanding.
Just opened a fairly larged processed image. I played with the STF just to get a feel (the image is already fully stretched). I move the black point of the red channel to the right. As expectd al RGB channels change values. When it reaches about 0.2, there is a jump to -0.2 and the R and B channels black points move back to 0. If I move the red channel more, the channels act as 'linked' but are not synchronized.
The problem is obvious on the screen, even if my description is not.
Windows 64 bits. Clean workspace, just an image loaded (32 bits FITS).
I continue to hunt for more problems...

Hi,
Another issue with the prerelease of 1.8. I have attached the log. Unfortunately, after this error, PI exits with a memory access violation. This makes it very difficult to find the original cause.
I can do further tests to help isolate the issue (you should also be able to reproduce this easily using the test of VaryParams, if needed).
BTW, I am not sure where these reports should be posted.
Tks

Hi all,

There are new packages for version 1.8.0.1054 now available on Endor. Linux, Mac OS X and Windows installation packages, plus updated PCL packages.

This version fixes all confirmed bugs in build 1053 that I released yesterday. Let me know if you encounter further issues.

Hi Bitli,

That's a self-diagnostics error that should never happen under normal execution conditions. I'd need to analyze the script you're running to know why it happens. Could you please narrow the problem with a smaller script?

I am not sure where these reports should be posted.

As a general rule (of thumb), they are better posted on the bug reports board.

So far I was able to reproduce it with only the operation doing the deconvolution, but by the nature of the script I cannot just extract that part, as it exercise quite a few operations (driver script below). It may not be related to deconvolution, but for example to the use of preview in that test. The script is creating two full image previews to operate the deconvolution twice with different values and then check the result and delete the previews.
If I comment the script just after the two deconvolutions, it does not crash during the first execution. But it crashes immediately if I launch the script a second time, not doing even the preliminary operations.
It behaves like if something is corrupted and creates and error later. I checked that it worked correctly in 1.8RC7.

Code: [Select]
   // Test process generating a preview from the main view
   testDeconvolution: function () {
      vPtest_focusOnLinearWindow();
      var environment = vP_makeEnvironment();
      var guiParameters = new Vp_GUIParameters(environment);
      var targetView = guiParameters.sourceView;
      vP_assertEquals(0,targetView.window.previews.length);
      guiParameters.processInstanceName = "aDeconvolution";
      guiParameters.parameterToVary="psfSigma";
      // Generate two previews
      guiParameters.parameterValuesText="1.5,2.5";
      guiParameters.operateOn=VP_OPERATE_MODIFYING_SOURCE;
      guiParameters.resultDestination=VP_RESULT_IN_PREVIEWS;
      var processEngineOrError = vP_makeProcessEngine(environment, guiParameters);
      vP_assertEquals("object", typeof processEngineOrError);
      vP_assertFalse(processEngineOrError.engineCreationError);
      vP_assertFalse(vP_executeForAllValues(processEngineOrError));
      var newViews = environment.getAdditionalMainViews();
  /*     vP_assertEquals(0, newViews.length);
      vP_assertEquals(2, targetView.window.previews.length);
     vP_assertEquals(2, processEngineOrError.generatedResults.length);
      targetView.window.deletePreviews();
      */
   },
I will try to refine further this weekend with your latest release.

I'd bet this is a manifestation of this bug, which is now fixed in build 1054 (just released). This should not happen anymore. Please let me know.

That problem is corrected, thanks.
I have another memory exception, I'll investigate and report this week-end on the bug list.
Have a nice week-end

So has the "official" release of 1.8.0 final-final-version happened yet?

If so will the update be automatic to those with RC7?

I'm new to PI and don't have any experience with version updates yet so a little hand-holding about the update process would be welcome.
