Problem Stacking 200 frames and Updating too
« on: 2013 August 07 10:36:26 »
Hi,

I'm having two problems with PI 1.8 RC7.

1) Trying to integrate 200 bias frames PI just exits with <failed> I use windows 64 with 8gb of RAM. I've changed the parameters to 1MB buffer size but still it doesn't work. I'm attaching a capture with the error and the paremeters I was using.

2) Trying to update the core I enter my username and password but the update fails saying "Network error: schannel: failed to setup extended errors"

Thanks for your help!
Luis

The error is out of memory.

Can anyone help me stack this images?

Might be a good idea to have some ideas here.  I have been making some dark masters collecting some 1h darks at the end of each night.  I could stack 50-60 of them but I get this error when I go to 70+.

Do you watch your task manager while this happens to see if the memory zeros out?

Luis,
go to your System Properties, Advanced, Performance, Virtual Memory. Check Automatically Manage Paging File for all drives. Click Ok and reboot then try again.

PI can not load RAW files by blocks, so for integrating a group of RAW images it must load all in memory. If you convert them to FITS before stacking you shouldn't have this problem.

For the problem with the updates, try searching the forum for "schannel".

If everything else fails, try splitting the set in equal subsets (ie, 2x100, 3x66, etc.), build master bias for each subset, and finally build a master "master bias" combining those.

The search returns 8 different threads for me. In any case the solution is here:

It doesn't work, I changed the repository to http instead of https but after asking for my username and password I get the same error.

Help?
