Inverted Images with PI 1.8
« on: 2013 March 10 08:31:13 »
Hi Group,

No doubt this has been discussed previously, but....

I just upgraded from v1.7.4.759 to v1.8.0.0963.  I immediately noticed that the images (raw and processed) from v1.7 were inverted in v1.8.
Is there a switch I need to throw?

Thanks,

Mark

I did not see this. Can you provide details?

inverted = Vertically flipped?

The FITS default coordinate origin was changed form 1.7 to 1.8.

Georg, Rudiger,

My term of "Raw" was a bit broad.  Actually the canon raw subs are correct.  It is the "fit" files that are inverted (vertically flipped).  This is true for both the CCD fits and processed DSLR fits.

Is there a setting for the fits to put them back the way they were?

Another v1.8 issue,

Often when I close an image, I get this warning:

"<Warning> Corrupted shared image struture: .."

Any suggestions?

Hi,

I think this has been corrected in RC4. At least it does not happen anymore in my computer.

Vicent.

Thanks Vicent.  That seems to have done the trick for now.

"format explore/fits/coordinate origin/lower left corner"

Is this setting the problem that you found, the change you made or the change from PixInsight 1.7 to 1.8.

A more helpful answer would be something like:

"In the Format Explorer I checked the FITS preferences and in the Miscellaneous Options section of the dialog the setting coordinate origin was set to: lower left corner and I changed it to upper left corner" or vice versa.

Then the PixInsight staff should have answered with something like:

"The coordinate origin parameter for PI version 7 was default to lower left corner" which was inverting images so we changed the default value to upper left corner to be compatible with the rest of the known image processing software world."

I'm not sure if the "values" I used above are incorrect or inverted I do apologize as I don't know the answer, however; the point I am trying to make is that when people like myself are searching for answers and we come across a thread like this one where a person has the same issue we are experiencing, then the answers that are provided are vague, the thread is virtually useless.
