Trouble with Previews

Hello to everybody,
I´m working with PI for some time now and the more it surprises me that a long forgotten problem suddenly arises again.
The trouble is, that I cannot draw boxes in the images to build the previews. ALT+N does not work, and the respective icon in the tool bar and in the drop-down menue is not active / available.
I have had this problem before; the reason was that I did not work on a proper image... but this time it is a fit image coming right out of
the PI stacking process. So it must be an image. This has occured suddenly - as this morning it had worked properly.
Is there a buck? Re-start of the computer was no use. May be there is a setting I missed?
Can anyone help?

Hi Angelika,

It is extrange.
The behavior that you describe can happen if in the active image, you have already  generated a preview and it is selected. You will see the image as active but Alt+N or the preview icon will not be active.

Hi Alejandro,
this is defenitly not a preview. It is Fit image coming out of PI Batch Processing. I did
not change it - I just loaded it the way it was.

I dread the thought, but I am coming to the conclusion, that I have to deinstall PI.

One idea just came to me: Could it be that a nearly full external drive (that is where all my
pictures are) is the reason for this behavior?

Hi

Are any of the tool bars active ? I presume you have closed and restarted PI 

If all else fails do a " reset pixinsight setting" which is under the start menu in windows, this usualy sorts out most things

Hello Harry,
yes, the button "New Preview" is active, but I do not know how to deal with it.
This problem occurs with any picture I load.
But as you adviced, I will try the resetting of PI.

When the new preview mode is active, just draw the preview on the image.
You may also try dragging the image tab (at the left of the image window) and dropping it on the same are to create a full frame preview.

I've alread tried that out. When I use the button "New Preview" , a little preview window appears at the top left of the image. But I cannot move it. I cannot change its size  nor dragging it to another place is not possible- drag and drop does not work. What am I doing wrong here?

It is very extrange, with that button active Alt+N shoud work. When it is inactive Alt+N do not work and the preview mode is deactivated.

Hi Angelika,

that button toggles the visibility of the preview frames in the main image. I suggested that feature a long time ago. When the preview frames are not visible you can not add new previews.
