Static Libray

Is it possible for the bias, dark, and flats locations be remembered from the last used location for each? What happens now is the last folder location opened is where the next dialog looks when needing a file. For instance, in the Image Calibration tool, you need to open many folder locations to choose the light frames, bias frames, darks, and flats. In my case, I keep my calibration frames in separate folders as I use static libraries for my bias, darks, and flats. If you start at the beginning and open the lights folder to choose the images to calibrate, when you move down to the bias frame needed (if any) the chooser will open the lights folder just used so you browse to the bias folder. Then you need to browse to the dark folder for the appropriate master dark which the choose opens the bias folder you just accessed and so on. It would be very nice to have the option of having static locations for the bias, darks, and flats folders. This is a feature used in another software package I use to use and really saves time. I use folders marked STL-Bias. STL-Darks, and STL-Flats to keep my library of calibration frames separate from the lights as I use a seasonal library and update the frames as needed. As the weather is getting cooler at night now I'll do a series of new darks at -20, -25, -30, and -35. I realize that I can use a master bias and scale my darks but I have never been happy with the attempts I done in the past and have plenty of nights to generate these masters.

are you talking about the ImageCalibration tool or the BatchPreprocessing script?

either way, the solution is the same... configure the tool up and then drag the triangle to the workspace, thereby creating a process icon that, when relaunched, populates the tool with all the settings you made. you can save your process icons to a file, and reload them whenever you need them.

i suppose if you want to get fancy, you can save the process icon, then duplicate it in the filesystem and use a text editor to do a find and replace on the temperature portion of the filenames. that way you don't have to click all over the place, but it assumes all your dark subs have similar enough names that editing the filenames does not become a chore.

but yeah - it would be nice if every different file open button remembered it's previous folder. most programs on OSX work like this, but i'm not sure if the OS is doing that behind the scenes or the program itself is giving hints to the OS. maybe Juan can comment on this.

This is using the Image Calibration Tool.

Same theory as per my link above, just use it for the IC tool rather than BPP.  ie save it as a process icon.

Maybe I'm reading this wrong but what I'm looking for is the image calibration tool to be able to remember which folder location each chooser last choose from. In other words, remember that I went to d:/images/STL-Bias folder for the bias images when I use the browse to for the file (or what ever folder it was in), that I went to d:/images/STL-Darks folder for the dark master used, and d:/images/STL-Flats folder for the master flat I just used.

As it is now, it opens the last folder accessed for all files I need to access. It isn't a show stopper but it does require a lot of time when you have many images to calibrate. For my individual red, green, blue, and luminance images of which the rgb is binned 2x2 and luminance is binned 1x1, I have to make many different searches for the needed files as each opens the previous folder opened. If I make a process icon for each it only contains the needed particular file for each choice and if that needs to be different it still means I need to use many mouse clicks to get to the folder needed. Maybe I'm missing something here but I don't see what.

All I'm saying is that the other processing programs I've used have this ability and it would be a huge time saver if PI could do the same. Not being a programmer I can't say that what I'm asking isn't a lot of work but worth mentioning.

Thanks,
Steve
