LRGB - Histogram Channel Offsets
« on: 2011 September 10 07:53:59 »
Hey guys

I've searched around the forum and the web, but I haven't quite found what I'm looking for. I'm working on a LRGB shot of M20 for a friend of mine and I'm running into a problem. It may be my lack of knowledge of the PI platform - I'm still a novice, but here goes:

So, I'm combining the RGB channels and then performing a histogram transform on the resultant image. However, in the HT window, the channels are far offset from one another thus causing one colour to become dominant when moving the levels. (Am I making sense?) What I would like to know is what this is indicative of, number one, and number two, is there any way of normalising (for want of a better word) the RGB channels to reduce the offset between them?

As I said, I may be approaching this from the wrong way, it's my first LRGB attempt in PI, so forgive my ignorance. I'm hoping you pros out there might be able to offer some input and insights. Any comments are much appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Conor.

Worth watching Vincents new video on this very subject area, its under Video Tutorials. Sounds to my very inexperienced eye as hough you need to do some colour calibration which must be carried out prior to a histogram stretch (which makes the data non linear.

Colour calibration did the trick. I can't believe I didn't think of using it. /me facepalms.

Thanks Chris.
