Gradient Merge Mosiac Video Tutorial
« on: 2011 August 29 14:19:46 »
EDIT : I HAVE INCREASED THE SOUND VOLUME FOR THOSE THAT SRTUGGLED. HOPE IT HELPS

THE LINK BELOW HAS CHANGED, PLEASE DOWNLOAD THE NEW VERSION SHOWN IN THE LINK BELOW

I thought I would add to the PI community by creating a video on Georg Viehoever's new Gradient Merge Mosaic tool that became available last month.

Harry Page did an awesome video for simple merging two panes together, but I had no end of problems trying to make this work with multiple panes especially when there were 2 edges to merge on one pane.

It turns out I was doing it all wrong and Georg kindly helped me out with the correct method.

So my payback for all the stunning working Georg has given to PI users is this video explaining how to create a 12 pane mosaic using PI and the new Gradient Merge Mosaic tool

This is the 1st video I have done, so please don't laugh, I really do hope it helps others sturggling to get to grips with mosaics in PI.

On a side note, the new feature produced by Georg is absolutely amazing and well worth the money for PI along with the DBE tool.

Thank you Georg.

A link to the video is below. It is in MP4 format and you may need to find the right codecs to play it.

http://dl.dropbox.com/u/10801850/Astro%20Pictures/Videos/PI%20Gradient%20Merge%20Mosaic.mp4

Please be patient for the entire video to download before it plays

Kudos to the Gradient Merge Mosaic "team". Georg, a marvelous job creating this great new tool. And, many thanks to Harry and Steve for the terrific tutorials. I've thanked Harry on more than one occasion for his great contributions that were so pivotal in getting me started with PI. Since this is Steve's first go at a video tutorial, I especially wanted to applaud his outstanding job. Mosaics are on my to do list and now with this new tool and these helpful videos, I'm going to have to give it a go. Great job you guys.

This was terrific! I'm now ready to give this a try with my own mosaic. Actually I have a few stashed away I still need to finish.

I do hope you get your audio improved a little before your next video. It's hard to hear you even with the volume turned up to max. You could take a look at the mixer settings and make sure your mic is not squeezed. Play an MP3 or other audio file at a comfortable level on your PC and then play a recorded sample. It should be about equally loud.

I think for non-native English speakers it may be difficult to follow what you're saying because you sound a bit rushed. Take your time to explain what you are doing, speak a little slower if you can.

I hope you don't mind me telling you this and I certainly hope you'll continue producing videos. I tried the other day with Camstudio and it wasn't a success. What software did you use? The zooming worked really well.
Best,

How to solve this problem: "Unable to find an initial set of putative star pair matches"?

Thank you
