HDRComposition: binarizing & format hints question
« on: 2011 August 01 19:06:55 »
Are there format hints in the HDRComposition tool to apply different binarizing thresholds to the input images?

The format hints are aimed to control the options of the file format module that loads the images... not the behaviour of the process' parameters.

Yes that's right, thanks!

I guess that the only way to apply different binarization thresholds to each of the images being combined would be by doing the HDR in several steps (?)

Why do you want to do this? The HDR composition algorithm works automatically. If your set of images really justifies an HDR composition, then the binarizing threshold shouldn't bee too critical, in general. That is, it shouldn't matter too much setting it to anything between 0.7 and 0.9 (don't take these numbers literally).

Of course there is an optimal value of binarizing threshold for each HDR set. In practice however, finding it to within reasonable accuracy should be a matter of a few tries.

If you can upload your HDR component images I can try to help you with HDRComposition.

This was working with a twilight image (non astro) that had a foreground object. I had three images, each with a different exposure time, and for one of the images, I wanted a different threshold (rather aggressive) than for the other two. I ended up doing it manually, which wasn't too hard anyway.
