HDRWavelet Transform missing
« on: 2011 June 18 11:13:28 »
Hi group, this is probably not a bug but rather an issue with my computer.

I've been running PI for a few months on my Dell using Vista with no insurmountable problems.

Today, I found that the HDRWavelet Transform was missing.  I uninstalled and re-installed PI, and the feature came back.  But once I shut off the software and restarted it, the feature was gone.

Did one more uninstall/re-install with no luck.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Mark

Wow. That leaves me speechless. I just launched my (OS X) version just to see if it had been the cause of a software update but no, I do have the process under Process | Wavelets. It used to be under another submenu (I think...) but not any longer so maybe, just maybe this is what you see? (Just shooting from the hip...)

Hi Philip.

I tried that path.  Have Atrous, but no HDRW.

It's nowhere in the menus and does not show up in the Process Console during startup.

I first noticed it missing when I started up a Process Icon that included it.  PI gave me this error --

" *** Error: HDRWaveletTransform: Reference to undefined instance: HDRWaveletTransform_instance"

I'm thinking something got hung up in the computer (registry?).  Not sure how to attack this, so I figured I would ask.

So, as PI loads the modules, it only finds 37? Not 38? (See console output, right after startup.)
The last module loaded (for me) is the Wavelets-pxm.dylib (which, I assume, has both HDRW and ATrous.)
But you have the ATrous... So ... very curious... Have you tried rebooting the PC?

" *** Error: HDRWaveletTransform: Reference to undefined instance: HDRWaveletTransform_instance"

Please note that this error doesn't mean that you don't have the HDRWaveletTransform process installed. It says that your XML file (.xpsm or .xosm format) lacks the definition of a process instance (HDRWaveletTransform_instance in this case). Most likely this denotes corruption of the XML file, or an error caused by invalid edition of the XML source code.

Now if you really don't have the HDRWaveletTransform process then that is weird. Just for sanity, try resetting the whole PI configuration. You can use the 'reset backdoor': execute the PixInsight Core application with the Ctrl key pressed, then answer yes to the subsequent dialog box. Let's see if everything returns to normality this way.

Philip -- yes reboot and re-install.  I did not get a count prior to the fix, but I do have 38 module now.  Thanks for your help.

Juan -- the "reset backdoor" did the trick.  That's good to know for future hitches.
I'm back up and running.  Thanks so much for your help.

Glad the issue is resolved.

Juan: Thanks for the secret reset handshake! Are there any more?  ;-)   (Easter Eggs?)
