Ah, I didn't quite get that Vicent, thanks for explaining. I should have read more carefully, sorry. Mind you that $200 for a workshop like that is a reasonable price, even if you did not prepare with our data. I am tempted to sign up but as I told you privately I'm traveling a lot these days and I'm not sure I can fit this in.
Best,

I'm hoping to attend but am unfamiliar with the Chicago area. Was there once many years ago and that's foggy at best. Are there any suggestions on where to stay that are close? I'd be flying into O'Hare and taking the subway into town, at least that's how I remember it. I'd rather not rent a car if I can stay close and just use taxies.

Hi Steve,

I'm glad we're going to meet at Adler! :) Are you already registered? Once you register, please email me and I will give you an FTP account to upload the data. I'm working in august on the data from the attendees.

As soon as possible I will inform you about hotels.

Best regards,
Vicent.

Well the catch is I need to know what to budget for this trip and without some idea on accomadations, I'm stuck. I haven't registered yat as I'd rather not comit and then need to back out because it's become over budget. Kind of a catch 22 at the moment.

Adler is at lake front on Solidarity drive. It is near grant park and the field muesem.

Near by hotels range from around 130 to 250 USD.

Some choices from Hotels.com
Travel lodge downtown 127 USD
Others
Congress plaza hotel
Chicago's essex inn
Best western downtown.

Hotels.com has a nice mapping function.

You can walk but I general recomend not alone ( your first day at least).
Downtown Chicago is actually Pretty safe.

I just glanced through the postings on this work shop and thought I had seen the scheldue but can't find it now. I really need information like when things are scheldued to start and finish, at least start. I would probably book a afternoon flight for Thursday and an evening flight for Sunday if possible  or for Monday morning. From flight costs it doesn't seem to matter much as far as price. Max, thanks for the hotel information.

Google aggregates hotel prices from several online sites. This query shows hotels near the planetarium.

Those of you from 'out of town' who are going to be lucky enough to be able to get to Adler should think about 'car-sharing' - try and cut the costs.

Now, if anybody would like to pay me to carry their luggage . . . . . . . . ::)

Has a schedule of events for the workshop been posted anywhere yet?  I'm attending, but will not be able to get to Chicago until Fri morning and am hoping I will not miss anything.

Thanks!
