Yes, the author is making this purposely. Just jumping above the license verification routines is not sufficient. Did these guys really think it would be so easy? There are many rat traps they'll have to understand before cracking PixInsight...

I don't talk about this same guys (friends) who have several thousands euros on telescope, mount, camera... and says PI is expensive at 171 euros    Some other use Toshop (is it less expensive ?

I think this is a weird logic, way of thinking. So you mean, because astronomy equipment si expensive and we have already spent a lot of money, pixinsight can be overpriced too? So can I sell you a bread for 50 bucks, because you pay a lot for your stuff anyway?

PI costs 230 Euros plus tax, so altogether its about 280 Euro and that is not really cheap.
No wonder, some hackers are cracking Pixi.

There are lot of free similar software (Gimp, Astrotools, cracked Photoshop can be downloaded easily for free)... PI may be the best one, though.

P.S.: About that trial versions, I would be careful, as skilled people can trick you by requesting a trial using proxy server of another country, which changes their IP address

But don't forget PI updates are free for life, just look at Maxim's update pricing policy!!!
