Color calibration on LBN912 - help needed

Hi,

I'm having troubles with color calibration on an RGB stack of LBN912.
The object was low on the horizon while taking B shots but I see that ABE (with 1 as interpolation degree) fixes the gradient.
I'm not able to get a good PCC.
I'd like to take a new set of B shots as soon as possible (still in binning 2x2) - B shots were all affected by the same guiding errors (I often have double stars on the OAG) but I don't think color calibration should be affected - and a set of L and H-alpha shots in binning 1x1.

Anyway in the meantime any advice would be appreciated -  RGB stack with just Dynamic crop and ABE applied: http://astrophotohobby.altervista.org/PI/integration.xisf

Actually its generally good data.  An easy fix I applied that helped alot was applying SCNR under its normal settings to eliminate the green tint.  That brings the star colors and background into line with what you would expect.

Hi Jim,

I see that the image looks better with no colour calibration: PCC makes it blueish.
I also opted for SCNR without any further calibration. Is the issue related to bad signal on the blu channel or maybe no neutral background available within the image?

Yes I did. I tried also to set an appropriate (less than 0.1)  threshold with/without ROI.

Hi Armando,

Your image works extremely well with PCC; see the attached screenshot.

Please keep in mind that the purpose of PCC is not to make your image look 'better', or similar to other images published online. PCC performs a rigorous color calibration based on data acquired from your image and photometric star catalogs. Within the constraints imposed by its underlying color philosophy, PCC cannot fail.

If you prefer to apply an arbitrary color balance based on your personal aesthetic preferences, then use the CurvesTransformation tool or something similar. However, in such case you won't be using color as a means to represent the astronomical objects in the image based on documentary criteria.

I think the issue is related only to background neutralization.
