Authentication error with Trial license
« on: 2020 January 24 14:31:21 »
I inadvertently attempted to install my trial version of PI on a second machine. Now the program will not load on either one of them. As soon as I hit the icon I get the message shown. I already have spent hours trying to fix this! I uninstalled, reinstalled, re-downloaded, got and received new trial codes, and even using Regedit deleted the "Pleiades" entry from the software list. Nothing helped, and I still am getting the message. You do have to give PI credit for high security for their software!

I sent an email to the company, but the only suggestions were to re-install. The trial version apparently does an Internet check every time it loads. It is my sense that the codes for my email address need to be reset by PI. I am disappointed in the level of support. I certainly will not be buying a full license until this is resolved, but would like to use the program.

I got it back using ingenuity and the information obtainable on their website. It said to delete the file "Pixinsightlicense" . It said it was on the user name Appldata\Roaming subdirectory. It was not there, but I figured out how to get Win 10 to do a file search on the C drive. (That used to be easy to do on previous versions, but no more.) It located the file under the Appdata\roaming subdirectory under the computer name. I deleted it, uninstalled the program again, rebooted the computer, and reinstalled PI again. This time I was able to enter the user name (a long number) and code they had sent. It worked!
