Starnet Installation on Mac
« on: 2020 January 12 10:42:02 »
I have been trying to install this on my Mac to no avail.  I have followed the instructions as well as some on CN and I get almost there.  But I am wondering if anyone has successfully installed this on their Mac?

I am not willing to go to PC.  Sorry, but only my laptop for capturing is PC based and I am not willing to go back to that little screen or slowness for processing.  I maxed out my new Mac for processing and I am fully into it without having to use anything PC based .....except I really would like to use Starnet!

yes - i compiled the module and wrote those instructions... what problem are you having?

one thing i may have not known about when i wrote the instructions is that GateKeeper sometimes prevents the module from installing the very first time. if that is what is happening, if you go into the System Preferences app and chose Security & Privacy, you should see a button saying that StarNet.dylib was prevented from running and a button should be there that says "install anyway" or something similar.

Successfully installed!  But to clarify on the pathway once a person runs into this roadblock, Click on the Apple, then System Preferences, then Privacy and Security, and then General.  In that area the box will have shown up.  It is not in the APP but through this pathway.  Just in case you or anyone else needs to know.  I have it installed and will give it a go this week.  Thanks so much for your assistance!

ah right, i guess i never mess with that pane so it's just sitting on General already when i opened it to check.

but... indeed system preferences is its own application and when you go to the apple menu and select "system preferences..." all that does is to just launch the app. the app itself is in /Applications/System Preferences and although it's by default installed in the Dock, you can always launch it from /Applications like any other app
