Arcsinh Stretch not available
« on: 2018 November 25 09:46:41 »
Quick question.

I'm watching all these tutorials utilizing the arcsinh stretch, but my latest copy of my licensed version of Pixinsight does not show it anywhere within the process menu. As I understand it's supposed to be available under Process/IntensityTransformations/ArcsinhStretch. I thought it might be due to an update to Pixinsight not being installed, but the update function tells me that my version is up to date.

Can anyone tell me why or help me find how to access it?

Thanks,
Gary

Hi Gary,

Some updates can only be installed as a full new version downloaded from http://dist.pixinsight.com/.  Have a look and see if there is a newer version than what you're running.

Cheers,
Rick.

Thanks, I'll look into that.

Like most software, I thought that just applying an update would get me all of the new features.

I checked my installed version for Windows. It was 01.08.05.1353. It looks like this is also the latest version at the download site.

Any other ideas ...

Hi,

Try this from the top menu  "Process" ---> "All Processes" ---> ArcsinhStretch

Otherwise uninstall PixInsight and then re-install.

You can check to see if arcsinh is installed from the menu Process/Modules/Manage Modules. From there you will also see if it is active(check mark). If it's not showing you might want to check this posting thread as how to get it back. I would suggest reading all of the thread as the begging is from over a year ago and the end is more recent.

Yep, also checked under Process/Modules/Manage Modules and it's not there either. Also checked on installations on other machines, but no go.

I will read through the prior thread and I'm sure the answer will be in there. If need be, I guess I'll reinstall my copy.

Thanks for all the help.

The actual file should be in the c:\Program Files\PixInsight\bin\ folder in Windows.

The tile is in that folder, but it does not appear on the process menu.

I went under install modules and managed to get it installed and properly appearing as a menu item.

Thanks for all your help on this.
