Annotation & flipping the image
« on: 2018 October 28 19:44:16 »
Hi,

I'm trying to annotate an SDSS Mosaic image. The FITS file already includes WCS Coordinate data. When I run the AnnotateImage script it works but it is in the wrong vertical orientation. In the image below, the two objects (in red) are actually below the galaxy.

When I flip the image, I get the warning about losing the astrometric solution. When trying to solve the image, I get a "no stars found" error (yes the file is noisy but it should be able to do better, right?)

What might be going on here, or how do I most easily get the AnnotateImage script to place the annotation the right way up?

Thanks,
C.

Try the FITS Preferences in the Format Explorer and change the Coordinate origin. Then reopen your original SDSS image.

Perfect! That worked great.

Just have to remember to change it back when working with other images!

Cheers

This is one of the many reasons why Juan has designed the XISF format  ;)
