Is it necessary to debayer Olympus .ORF files
« on: 2018 May 11 09:06:16 »
I have been using my Olympus EM1mk2 to take some shots of various galaxies using the Olympus RAW format .ORF and got quite a few good images.

When I open them in Pixinsight they are already showing as RGB files is it necessary to debayer them?

I have tried integration and all seems to work without doing the debayering but am I missing something?

the debaying is probably happening in the DSLR_RAW module (as the images are opened) where it's probably currently turned on...

if you want to calibrate the images without changing the DSLR_RAW settings, you should be running ImageCalibration and giving the format hint "raw cfa" to ImageCalibration. then you would run Debayer, and then StarAlignment, and then ImageIntegration.

if you use BPP i think it will set up as described above on its own.
