Saving Calibrated Files to XISF
« on: 2017 December 21 10:45:30 »
Hi Group,

Calibration saves as "fits" rather than xisf files.
Star Align does convert the fits into xisf, but Calibration does not.

File I/O Settings is set to the default xisf.

I know it's a simple setting, but I can't find it.
Running Win 10, and PI 1.8.5.1353.

Not the end of the world, but any help would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Mark

Your question isn't clear.
Are you saying that the ImageCalibration process is converting its output to FITS?
Or are you starting off with FITS files and ImageCalibration is not converting to XISF?

Hi Mark, thanks for your response.
I use an Atik 383L+ mono camera that produces fits files.  My first process with these files is image calibration.  This operation utilizes master flats, darks and bias (all in xisf format).
The calibration produces output files that are still in the fits format.  This is true even though the global setting I/O is set to xisf format.

When I process the calibrated fit files in star alignment, the output is indeed xisf.  So for now, there’s no problem in processing.  But, as Juan continues to deprecate the fits format, there may come a point where star alignment may no longer accept fits format.

are you launching SA with an old process icon? the problem is that PI will still accept the XML in the process icon which sets the file output type, but it's not shown anywhere in the GUI.

Thanks Rob, that was it.
I've got my process icons set up for quick processing.  Some are older than dirt.

By using a new non-customized calibration, the output files came out as xisf.
Somethings don't improve with age.

keep those XISF files around though cause who knows if you're going to need fits for some reason :)
