Harry
pentax DSLR cameras use a DGN raw file while the canon camera use CR2 raw files, both do jpegs.

Time for a DSLR user to step to the plate and do some videos or tutorials I think.

Hi Ladies and Gents

This weeks video is  A Introduction to Pixinsight

I have gone back to the start with this video tutorial like for the new Newbies ;D
It is a quick oversight of the desktop and a look at a few of the Icons , oh and a little look at previews
Again its not meant to be all inclusive just hopefully enough to get you going ;) before my other videos
I did struggle with this a bit and if you have any suggestions about things that should be included let me know ( or excluded )

The video is at the usual place http://www.harrysastroshed.com/pixinsighthome.html

Regards Harry

Hi Harry,

I have downloaded your latest video ('An Introduction...') twice now - but I still do not seem to have any audio after you move to the subject of 'Previews'. Your commentary just 'stops', although the video continues to run.

Is it just me, or are others seeing this as well?

Thanks Harry,

I'll go and download, and will re-check. But I am hoping to get out and re-test my setup after one of my 5m USB active extenders 'dropped the ball' and left me head-scratching for several weeks. Isn't it amazing how this sort of problem always happens at EXACTLY the same time as you try 'something new'  >:(  (I had just changed to Nebulosity and PHD/ASCOM, from Envisage, when I seemed to enter a world of hurt with USB device enumeration. I was actually reaching for the shotgun and petrol when I spotted that the fault always happened with one particular extension. Now, £30 later, I have ANOTHER two extensions up the pier to the scope, brand new, gold-plated, and hopefully working).

So, I'll hopefully get an hour or so around midnight - hopefully it'll get dark tonight  8) (it is sometimes amazing to see how dark it is already down in London - whilst watching the tennis live on telly a few minutes ago - yet right now at just turning 23:00, I can barely make out Vega, naked eye)

Looking forward to your 'next episode' - and, a suggestion for you: make a point of showing the application of a process to an image by dragging a process icon from the workspace, and dropping it on an image (the only point that I felt you missed in your 'intro' video).

Cheers,

No problems Harry - always 'here to help'

BTW, the new download was fine. Is it fundamentally 'the same' video? If it is then I will 'dump' the original 'corrupt audio' version.

(I never did get out last night, too knackered after Andy Murray's marathon  :D , but tonight is looking more hopeful)

Cheers,
Niall

Hi People

I have made another video :D and it is available at the usual place http://www.harrysastroshed.com/pixinsighthome.html

This video shows you how to create a simple star mask and how and why you can use it with HDR wavelets and Morphological transformation ( Star reduction)

I have put this video under a intermediate heading as even though it is still not a complicated video its perhaps not where a newbie wants to start

Hope its of help 8)
