Draw a new preview on a mac?
« on: 2017 September 24 13:35:14 »
How do you draw/select a new preview on a mac?

I have tried alt+n, cmd+alt+n, selecting new preview from the preview menu (which does create a preview, but have to manually specify the size and location.

Is there some other key combo?

(OK, I found a context menu that puts me in "new preview mode", but the corresponding shortcut (alt-n) doesn't work...

I believe this problem has been traced to an incompatibility with some Mac keyboards. For me, the keyboard shortcut does not work with the small wireless Mac keyboard but it does work with with an older extended keyboard and with a Mattias 3rd party keyboard. Very awkward to use previews without that shortcut!

This used to work with my 'Magic Keyboard'; not sure why it doesn't any longer.  :'(

Same issue here.  This seems to have been happening for years.  For software the price of Pixinsight I would have expected a fix by now.
Is there a workaround.

As jamiesmithnc mentions above, right-click on your image. In the context menu, select Mode -> New Preview. Then draw your rectangle as usual.
