PI crashes
« on: 2017 September 14 20:17:18 »
Hi All,

Beginning PI user here.
I used PI once exploring file open/close functions and closed it.
Now when I try launch it again it crashes.
Crash details are here :
skywatcher.space:8000/download/PI_crash_2017-09-14_2011.swf

What do I have to do to fix it?

Thanks,
Gert

Hi,

Maybe a file got corrupted, so try this:
Uninstall PixInsight
Reboot PC
Download PixInsight from the website
Install new version
Reboot PC (not really necessary, but do it anyway)
Start PixInsight
Process image
Show us the results ;)

Good luck

Hi Gert,

This problem does not happen under normal working conditions, and cannot be reproduced on any of our working and testing Windows machines, including Windows 10, 8.1 and 7 SP1.

This problem is being caused by ucrtbase.dll (Universal C Runtime), which is a system component. The error code 0x40000015 means STATUS_FATAL_APP_EXIT. You may have a wrong or damaged system configuration. As John says, rebooting may help sometimes. My recommendation is doing a complete system reinstall to start with a clean Windows instance, preferably Windows 10 if possible.
