Issues with Integrating NEF RAW and TIFF

Hi,

I didn't have time to do dark frames and bias frames in the field where I use SGP for imaging. I have now produced NEF RAW files for dark and bias frames but I get into geometry incompatibility issue when I try to calibrate my light frames.

When I was capturing the dark frames the camera orientation was such that the images are in portrait orientation when the light frames are in landscape orientation. I don't know if that is the reason, and I have converted the dark frames into TIFF and rotated to landscape and things still don't work.

Any suggestions?

did you capture the lights using fits written by SGP but the calibration frames are NEF?

if so, the problem is that SGP writes fits files which are incompatible with how most programs convert NEF files.

i don't think you can convert to TIFF because that will probably debayer the NEF and you want to do calibration on the raw files.

can you post one of the fits and one of the NEF files? i'd like to experiment on them. it's possible that simply dividing the SGP fits file by 4 may solve the incompatibility.

that is probably the best thing to do. i wish the SGP devs did not make this decision; i asked them to undo it and they said they would consider it but it's been a couple of years and no change...

edit: at your link there is only 1 NEF file... i'd need one of the FITS files as well.
