Some issues in latest PI release
« on: 2017 August 04 15:45:25 »
The latest PI release removed "Extract L" from the toolbar. It used to be next to "Split RGB" icon. Anyone know how to add new icons to toolbar?

I have also noticed that after I close PixInsight and later try to re-open PixInsight, it just does not start anymore unless I reboot the computer?

I am using the very latest Windows 10 including all Windows Updates.

I believe I found the culprit. The new PCC tool seems to be the culprit. After processing my image with PCC, then close PI, it will not restart PI from then on unless I reboot the computer.

I believe I fixed it. I did uninstalled once before and the problem persisted. I just uninstalled it, then reboot the computer, re-install PI, reboot the computer and works fine including additional two PI updates.

Now, can anyone tell me how to add new icons to toolbar? The latest release removed "Extract L" icon from toolbar.

It's still there on mine.  You could try View>Default Control Bars to do a reset.

AFAIK you can control what toolbars appear but not the individual icons that are included in them.  You could try using View>Tool Bars to disable and reenable the Image tool bar.  If that doesn't work then perhaps you need help from someone who know more than I do  ;)

I am aware it's a minor issue and can live without it by using menu pulldown and then use Extract tool but I used the Ectract L icon all the time and it's a very nice shortcut. If the user cannot add icons to toolbar, then please put back Extract L icon in next update.

Thanks,
Peter

Hi.
The problem with Luminance extract can be solved like in image, and is an easy way.

Yes I know, but that's three mouse clicks (or movements).  :P

I want one mouse click.  8)

Everyone

Check my posting https://pixinsight.com/forum/index.php?topic=11315.0 . I attached a process icon that you can leave on your workspace and just drag to the image you want to extract L from.

Hi, i added in the Toolbar selection  "ColorSpace".
This brings toolbar icon "convert to Grayscale" and icon "ConvertoRGB"
(moved this 2 icons right of the Extract_RGB icon for faster finding)

Clicking on convert to grayscale gives your one mouseclick solution.

Or - Ctrl/Shift/L also creates a L view(!!)...  (without any Mouseclick...) >:D

I noticed a new issue processing an image in the latest release today. Using HDRMultiscaleTransform, if I select the Median Transform checkbox, nothing happens. If I leave it unselected, use the À Trous wavelets algorithm, I get the expected result.

I thought I was going crazy and had the wrong mask applied.

Hi Andrew,
I cannot reproduce it.  if I select the Median Transform check box it works and also if I uncheck it. May be you are not noticing the change in your image? Try in a preview of the bright area of the image to see more in detail.
If you still notice no change, maybe better if you share your image and information about your OS in the Bug Report section.
Saludos, Alejandro
