Another run on Comet 41p April 17 2017
« on: 2017 April 18 18:33:45 »
I collected 480 images @ 30 seconds each through intermittent haze, so this one isn't has smooth as the last one.
Processed in PI, without any dark frames, etc. Time lapse of 4 hours 40 minutes realtime acquisition.
Noisy and large variations of the background due to the haze.
YouTube does a poor job of rendering the final product as well.

Process followed:
1) debayering the images
2) Auto background extraction
3) Histogram Transformation
4) Curve transformation
5) generate PNG files for video input
6) Create video segment in Vegas Movie studio

Hi Doug - well, you still did better than me

I started grabbing 30 second exposures, then tried to do 'something else' on the acquisition PC (AstroImaging 101: Don'y use your acquisition/guiding PC for anything else whilst acquiring images  :police:). Of course, I then had an inevitable crash, meaning 'start again'.

And, now that I have seen your video, I am seriously tempted to just dump my raw frames altogether !!
Cheers,

I only use the laptop to run the observatory systems, for the very reason you pointed out. No need to task the computer that is running the close to realtime applications.
Any processing or other applications, I run on my desktop in the house. ;)

I would give you a 'Like' but the forum doesn't have that ability I think so I'll just post it here. Well done!
