Star removal
« on: 2016 December 29 18:58:01 »
I am just venturing into narrow bandRGB imagin. I would like to combine Ha with my DSLR RGB data and would use the NBRGB function.  From what I've read, it seems that it would be best to use a starless Ha image for the combination.  I'm wondering if there is a simple method in PI to accomplish this?  A search of this topic shows that there was a brief conversation about this a couple of years ago but I haven't been able to find anything more recent.  I'm sure I must just be missing something.  Any help or direction would be much appreciated.

Many thanks,

Gord

david ault has a tutorial regarding this issue:

however i'm not sure it's absolutely necessary to remove the stars to do narrowband processing, it's just one technique...

Thanks Rob.  Any other tips or suggestions are most welcome!  When looking at using NBRGB to do the combination, could I ask where you would use it in your workflow?

for narrowband i'm using RickS's ColorMask script, following the steps outlined here:
