DBE fail on re-opened projects
« on: 2016 November 23 15:45:10 »
This has happened a number of times now over the past few months.  When I open a saved project that contains several integrated images and then open a saved DBE Icon with pre-established points, the points appear on the image like one would expect but they cannot be moved or deleted.  The only way to correct the problem is to close image then re-open the image from where it is saved.  The points generated by the saved DBE icon then can be moved or deleted.

Hi Larry,

I can't reproduce this problem on any of our working and testing projects, on any testing machine and operating system. Can you upload a minimal project where this can be reproduced?

Juan,

Here's a link to a Dropbox folder with the data files and project file in minimal form.   The first DBE icon (DBE_H) is the one to try.

https://www.dropbox.com/sh/2v43smbmeujrw2m/AAAl4TY877UKWDxyNrk8Fipba?dl=0

I need to amend my description of the problem: I can add or move points, but they cannot be deleted.

I'll also repeat that this is one of two current projects with different data but the same problem, and this has occurred maybe 6 times in the past 12 or so projects.

Let me know if you have trouble opening the folder.

Larry

Hi Larry,

Thank you for uploading this project. Yes, there is a small and extremely weird bug that can be reproduced as follows:

1. Open a dynamic session on any image, such as DBE or DynamicPSF.

2. Create a process icon from the dynamic tool window.

3. Shade (minimize) the image.

4. Save a project.

5. Open the project saved in step 4.

6. Unshade (normalize) the image.

7. Open the icon saved in step 2.

At this point any keyboard commands, such as Delete to remove DBE samples, don't work during the dynamic session in step 7. This is a very strange problem, most likely a bug in Qt libraries. Fortunately, the workaround is very easy: instead of shading the image in step 3, iconize it. When the image is iconized and you open it in step 6, the bug does not happen and all keyboard commands work normally. Or just ignore the problem and live with this very small issue. Note that you still can delete DBE samples from the DBE window, by clicking the delete selected sample button (red cross icon). Similar equivalent buttons exist in other dynamic tools. Hopefully this will be solved in the next version.

Juan,

Thanks for looking into it and the suggested work around.
