About sample boxes drawn in ABE process, I need info?
« on: 2016 November 23 05:39:41 »
Hello Pix team and all,
First, I'm new on the forum but not in Pix (since LE). I do astrophoto with a Tak FS60+red+flat and 6D or 40D.
So in order to eliminate light pollution, on each subframe, I do first an ABE. On this color image of M31 :

we can see different kind of sample boxes. Two thinks,
  • sample boxes are fully check or half check (but left or right) or no
  • sample boxes are sometimes red, or yellow, or blue or purple
So, perhaps Juan or Carlos or any one could explain me what it means, in order to have a better understanding in the background sampling process?
Christophe

I think, for the color, a red box take in account only the red layer (respectively for blue and green). A yellow, only red and green. A purple, the blue and red ones???

Hi Christophe, not sure what the different colors means but I think that they all indicates that the value of that sample is far from the median value of the image.
Regarding sample boxes that are fully checked or half checked, it is a matter of visualization, if you zoom in or zoom out you should see them correctly.
Saludos, Alejandro.
