scripts and the history explorer / process containers
« on: 2013 October 08 18:48:09 »
i have been experimenting with applying DBE and canon banding reduction to some old subs using ImageContainer. I noticed that if i load the history explorer after having applied DBE, rotation, CBR script and rotation again, the CBR script parameters are not saved. it's clear that CBR is running with default parameters.

i was able to edit the process container with the saved process icon for CBR, and successfully apply the process container to an ImageContainer - the subs all got DBE and the expected CBR. however, if i apply the process icon to a view on the desktop, an error is generated, which is pretty strange. screenshots attached.

it's possible that this is a problem with CBR only; i have not tried other scripts to see if the parameters are visible in the history explorer, or if they succeed when dragged to a view.

actually now that i look at the results and think about this, can a dynamic process be used in this way? the results look an awful lot like the computed background never changed.

and thinking some more, maybe the DBE problem is actually caused by using the process history version of DBE rather than a process icon saved before execution...

Hi Rob,
  • I dont know about the error message you get. Seems like an internal error. Is this reproducible?
  • Regarding the incorrectly recorded process parameters in the processing history: I think you have run into this issue http://pixinsight.com/forum/index.php?topic=1995.msg12714#msg12714 , which according to Juan is a fundamental limitation of PJSR scripts.

yeah the error message happens every time. obviously dropping process containers onto views works pretty well, so i wonder if it is the presence of a script in the mix that's throwing it off.

i must have missed or forgotten the thread you are pointing to - thanks. at any rate since you can edit a process container the situation is salvagable.
