Batch Preprocessing Script
« on: 2013 January 28 08:23:01 »
I've recently started using the Batch Preprocessing Script to save considerable time in calibrating my subs

I've encountered a problem in that the Script will only ever calibrate the first set of lights even though I've added Red, Green and Blue light frames. I've reproduced this on my Win 7 Pro 64 bit desktop and Win 7 Pro 32-bit laptop

Has anybody also encountered this problem? If so is there a work around?

Thanks in advance

Sure. I cannot solve a problem if I can't reproduce it. So in these cases I need a (hopefully reduced) data set that causes the problem.

Nigel, can you upload your images (or some of them) where I can download them for testing?

Good morning!

I have just tried BPP with your data. By clicking on "Add Files", all the files are automatically selected as master bias, master dark, master flat and light frames, with the correct filters. Then the script works without problems to calibrate, register and integrate the nine light frames, generating the three corresponding master lights. See the attached screenshots.

Are you selecting the Use master bias, Use master dark and Use master flat options (right panel)?

(NB: Note how the default pixel rejection parameters have been useless in this case. Obviously, with just three frames the default Winsorized SC pixel rejection is a bad choice, but this is a good example of why I added the warning dialog about integration with the BPP script.)

Thanks Juan

Firstly, the version of the BPP script I am running is 1.22, I notice you are running 1.25

Secondly, when I load the Master Flats, they are not automatically selected as Master Flats

I have to manually select Master Bias, Dark and Flat checkboxes. I've tried selecting these checkboxes before using Add Files and still get the same problem of only processing the first filter set.

Juan

I've just found the problem  :D

I noticed in your example that you are registering as well whereas I am only calibrating on my PC here. When I uncheck the Calibrate Only checkbox all Lights are calibrated and registered.

When I check the Calibrate Only check box only the first set of Lights are calibrated

Hi Nigel,

Yes, I have just checked it, and this also happens in version 1.25. This is obviously a bug, which I'm going to fix immediately. Sorry for the inconvenience.

When you use pre-made master frames for calibration, you have to check the "Use master..." options manually. This is also something that can be improved, since master frames generated by the script can be identified as such automatically. I'll try to add also this improvement along with the bug fix.

Thank you for your help.
