if i make a preview of an object and tweak the HDRWavelets to my liking, then go back to the full image and apply the same settings, the behavior in the area of interest is very different. i thought maybe it had to do with the automatic midtones balance, so i figured out a good manual one for just the preview, but the result is the same.
cant figure out if this difference in behavior is simply due to the process running over the range of brightnesses in the whole image vs just the preview, or what. maybe it's normal. target image masked or unmasked seems to make no difference.
do i need a different scaling function for the whole image?
left is a clone of the HDRWavelet process run on a preview. right is the preview after applying the HDRWavelet process to the whole image.
