Complete workflow
« on: 2010 December 18 16:04:25 »
Hello everyone,

I am a newbie with pixinsight, and totally confused...

I am pre-processing with Nebulosity, and then following Harry's tutorials, this way I am having pretty good results but...

Trying to make the full process with pixinsight is a complete frustration, is any full workflow that I can relate about?

I am trying to use the Debayer function but is this applied in pixinsight before normalizing, or after? to only one image or to all the registered ones?

I really appreciate any help, I think that the complete process in pixinsight is much better than the two part (Nebulosity and then Pixinsight)

What preprocessing steps do you use with Nebulosity?

Hi,

1. Preview Files (I filter bad frames)
2. Creating of Master Darks, Biases and Flats (Alignment/Stacking)
3. Pre-process B&WRaw Images
4. Normalize intensities
5. Batch Demosaic + Square RAW color

From then I do the Star alignment and the rest of the process with Pixinsight, I am using a QHY8 with a C8 HD and Hyperstar.

Thank you for your help

Jose

1) Previewing, in this case, means opening each image and using the Screen Transfer Function (STF) on each so you can see what you have and then eliminate the bad frames (star trail, out of focus, shakes, ...)

2) You can read this long tutorial to build your masters. http://pixinsight.com/tutorials/master-frames/en.html

3) I do not know what you mean by Pre-process the B&W raw images, unless it is meant that you apply to them the masters as built on step 2.

4) is done later when you stack

5) De-bayering is done via the use of a script (Script | Utilities | BatchDeBayer)

Did you access http://pixinsight.com/tutorials/index.html and
http://pixinsight.com/examples/index.html and
http://pixinsight.com/videos/index.html ??

Lots of useful stuff there as well, complementing Harry's stuff.

Have fun.

The animation script is great for previewing and rejecting images.

Thanks for that very useful tip Max. I hadn't noticed the animation script. Looks like it has everything I need.
