M101

Not yet done--need a bunch of lum and Ha, but this RGB image is a good start.  TOA 130 with .7x reducer and STT-8300.  18 10 min subs in each of RGB, with a synthetic luminance made from 51 RGB subs.  I tried drizzle, but not enough data I guess.  It was OK at small sizes but full resolution was rough

I really like this image. I like the fact that for what data you have you haven't over processed it. That shows in the background and the details in the small secondary objects. Yes with more data you'll be able to bring out more but this is well done. Not every image has to be shown at a high resolution to be enjoyed.

Thanks Mike.  I am looking forward to getting more data.  I love this target.  I appreciate your kind words.

You've got a bit of a red cast in some of the background (especially at top left) but a nice result...

Cheers,
Rick.

Thanks...The numbers don't indicate a red cast.  All RGB numbers are about the same pretty much everywhere in the background.  Monitor maybe?

Hi Rodd,

I did check the numbers to verify my visual impression.  Draw a preview in the top left hand side of the image and check the median values.  Example attached.  Also see DBE extracted background.

Cheers,
Rick.

Wow--you must have a sensitive eye! .067 vs .059 (or what ever the number was--something like that).  When I add the luminence (which means a total reprocess of the data) I will be more careful.  Supposed to be clear tonight.

Maybe this is cheating, but I hit the image with ABE and now the background numbers are the same.  It didn't seem to ruin the image, though I did not inspect in great detail.
