HDR terrestrial photography settings/memory
« on: 2010 August 21 04:04:51 »
Hi. I'm attempting to combine 3 Canon raw images to create an hdr image, using the HDR script. The images are large, 4032 x 3024. I've been able to produce one hdr.fit - good luck I think - all attempts otherwise failed. I've tried calibrated fit images, tiff and jpeg, but the process never completes and either freezes the desktop, produces a black screen or crashes Pixinsight.

I did think that this may be a settings problem, but I'm inclined to think it's a memory problem?

System is ubuntu Linux 64 bit, Dual Core 2.20GHz, 2GB RAM, swap 1.6GB.

Looking forward to resolving this... ...any ideas?

There are many reports of problems with the script (yeah, I think that it is memory related too). My suggestion, for the moment, would be to have a little patience and wait for the new process module that will be released soon. It will be faster, improved, and hopefully, without memory problems :)

Are there any changes that can be made to the existing script in the short term, until the new script is available?

I don't know... to be honest, I've never used the script :D (and I know very little about javascript... I work mainly with c++). I do the HDR combination manually. I described the process in spanish to Manolo. You may try a translator (babelfish or google) until I find time to do that.
